Sixteen-year-old Shannon Murphy earned her Bronze Medal with her beloved gelding, One Who Brings Peace, at the CBLMs: “It was hard work, but well worth it!” Shannon Murphy shared her most recent excitement about her dressage journey with her horse One Who Brings Peace, aka Shiloh.
On October 14th, at the ESDCTA Garden State Classic and Colonel Bengt Ljungquist Memorial (CBLM) Championship at the Horse Park of New Jersey, the Shannon/Shiloh team achieved their final qualifying test score earning them the USDF bronze medal. The pair also won second place, Reserve Champion in the Second Level Jr CBLM Championship class.
Shannon began her training at Heart’s Journey Stables when she was 5 and she recently celebrated her 16th birthday after meeting the bronze medal requirements. Under the watchful eye and mentoring of Melissa Morehouse, FEI trainer of Heart’s Journey Dressage, Shannon and Shiloh received all of their training and have repeatedly performed well in every competition receiving qualifying scores and first place ribbons at Intro, Training, 1st, 2nd and 3rd level dressage and musical dressage over the past years.
Melissa stated, “The bond between Shiloh and Shannon is a beautiful thing. She is an exemplary rider who has come so far with a non-traditional dressage horse to achieve great things! Team Shiloh is all heart!” Shannon and Shiloh have competed at Gladstone, Rhythm and Blues, and Red Tail along with many local stable schooling events. Melissa has diligently guided Shannon in a multitude of learning experiences and has trained Shiloh for success into 4th level. Shannon plays violin in the Stroudsburg High School orchestra and in the Neola UMC praise band Believers N Friends. She achieves high academic grades and aspires to become a veterinarian following high school.
